Re-Accreditation | NACSC

Ensuring Continuous Quality and Institutional Excellence

The re-accreditation of higher education institutions and academic programs is a mandatory quality assurance process that ensures both institutions and program-based accreditation continue to meet NACSC’s standards, national regulatory criteria, and international best practices.

Conducted within a five-year cycle, re-accreditation evaluates whether an institution or program maintains academic integrity, operational sustainability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The goal of re-accreditation is to validate an institution’s or program’s long-term compliance with NACSC’s quality benchmarks while fostering continuous enhancement in curriculum, faculty qualifications, research, student services, and governance.

The evaluation process is conducted by an expert review panel, assessing institutional governance, program quality, student learning outcomes, and infrastructure.

Institutions and programs must initiate the re-accreditation process before their five-year accreditation term expires to maintain their NACSC-accredited status.

Re-Accreditation Process (10 Stages)

Re-Accreditation follows the same structured process as Initial Accreditation, with additional emphasis on continuous compliance and quality improvements:

Phase 1: Pre-Application & Eligibility (Stages 1-2)

1️⃣ Re-Accreditation Notification & Confirmation – NACSC notifies institutions and programs 12 months before their accreditation expires to initiate the process.

2️⃣ Submission of Letter of Intent (LOI) – Institutions and programs confirm their intention to renew accreditation and provide updated legal and governance documents.

Phase 2: Self-Evaluation & Initial Review (Stages 3-5)

3️⃣ Submission of Self-Assessment Report (SAR) – Institutions and programs submit an updated self-evaluation report highlighting improvements made since initial accreditation.

4️⃣ Appointment of Accreditation Committee – NACSC assigns a review panel of subject matter experts to evaluate the institution or program.

5️⃣ Initial Evaluation Report & Response – The committee provides an initial review, and institutions/programs submit a response addressing any observations.

Phase 3: Peer Review & Site Visit (Stages 6-7)

6️⃣ Peer Review Team Appointment & Visit Planning – A NACSC peer review team is assigned, and a site visit (physical or virtual) is scheduled.

7️⃣ Peer Review Report & Institutional/Program Response – The peer review team submits findings, and the institution/program provides a response or corrective action plan.

Phase 4: Final Review & Accreditation Decision (Stages 8-10)

8️⃣ Final Evaluation Report & Review – The NACSC Accreditation Council conducts a final review based on peer review findings.

9️⃣ Re-Accreditation Decision – Institutions and programs receive one of the following outcomes:Full Re-Accreditation (Valid for 5 Years), Conditional Re-Accreditation (With Required Action Plan), Letter of Expectation and Accreditation Revocation

🔟 Post-Accreditation Monitoring & Compliance – NACSC monitors re-accredited institutions and programs through periodic compliance reporting, surprise audits, and forensic verification.

Apply for Re-Accreditation: Streamlined Digital Re-Accreditation Process

NACSC follows a fully digital accreditation process, eliminating the need for paper-based applications. Accredited institutions and programs must submit their Self-Assessment Report (SAR) digitally via the NACSC Accreditation Portal to initiate re-accreditation.

Institutions can either request access to the portal or, if already registered, submit their SAR directly through their portal dashboard.

✔ Log in to the NACSC Accreditation Portal;

✔ Navigate to the Re-Accreditation Section

✔ Upload the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and required documents and Submit for NACSC Review.

If your institution does not have portal access, submit a Portal Access Request by providing Institution Name, Accreditation ID, Authorized Representative Name & Contact Details to accreditation@nacsc.org.in

Right to Appeal

Institutions and programs that disagree with the re-accreditation outcome have 30 days to submit an appeal. NACSC’s Accreditation Appeals Committee will review the case and provide a final decision within 15 days.
